Q: Many Illinois web designers offer do-it-yourself web sites with shopping carts, Yahoo, for instance, and they're a lot cheaper to set up than a company like TMG. Isn't that a good way to save money?

A: You're right, they are CHEAP, and the results you'll get will reflect that. There are a lot reasons why we don't endorse or support these services:

• Most of them make it difficult, if not impossible, to do what needs to be done for the search engines. Without the search engines, you might as well not even bother.
• These services use templates, and you are limited to whatever those templates allow. Furthermore, you will have to fit your product information into their structure, as opposed to having the structure fit to your needs the way we do.
• Updating product information is usually cumbersome and time-consuming. We make it easier and quicker for you to manage your product information.
• While these companies might provide information about promoting your web site (a lot of it is useless), it's not the same as having a consultant working with you to get the most out of your investment.

Q: I've heard the Internet referred to as a "gold rush." Is it really that easy to make a lot of money with a web site?

A: No, it's not that easy. Starting an Internet business is just like starting a brick-and-mortar business. It takes time, money and effort to build and grow it, and that doesn't happen overnight. We have clients making a lot of money with their ecommerce sites, but they didn't get there immediately.

Q: Do you provide the merchant account for processing credit card transactions?

A: No, but we can recommend some companies for you, if you need to get setup with a merchant account.

Q: How does the credit card processing work? Does the shopping cart do the credit card processing automatically, or do we have to do that manually?

A: Actually, the choice is yours. You can be set up to authorize and settle transactions automatically, authorize automatically and settle manually, or authorize and settle transactions manually. Whatever works best for you…

Q: I hear a lot about security, for instance credit card numbers getting stolen. Will that be a problem?

A: No. We do not store credit card information online. That information is stored on your local computer.
