11-14th JULY 2013 – GIEVES & HAWKES at The Coronation Festival
Last weekend,
GIE
VES & HAWKES
was delighted to participate in the Coronation Festival, a unique event held in the gardens of Buckingham Palace exclusively for Royal Warrant Holders. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of The Queen’s Coronation, the festival brought together over 60,000 visitors from all over the world to join Her Majesty The Queen, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Their Royal Highnesses The Princess Royal and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie of York for a four day celebration.
As a holder of all three Royal Warrants,
GIEVES & HAWKES
proudly hosted a bespoke stand featuring highlights from their new hand-made in Britain collection alongside important pieces from the brand’s archive including memorabilia in connection with Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Captain Scott of the Antarctic. The close working relationship between the British Royal Family and
GIEVES & HAWKES
was highlighted through a wall of portraits of British monarchs dressed by

since 1809, including the Queen in her Gieves naval boat cloak, commissioned by the Admiralty in 1953 and culminating in the famous portrait by Mario Testino of Prince William in his

white tie and tails.
At the Friday evening gala
GIEVES & HAWKES
invited a variety of friends of the brand to a celebratory cocktail party where guests enjoyed Laurent Perrier champagne. In attendance were British male supermodel David Gandy, Chinese Olympic equestrian Alex Hua-Tian and club entrepreneur Jake Parkinson-Smith, who were all dressed in

. Also present were pianist Rosey Chan, fashion blogger Tina Leung, Admiral Lord West and Lady West and Sir David Tang’s son Edward. Style legend Suzy Menkes was also spotted on the stand, set against the Arcadian backdrop of the palace.
