GIEVES & HAWKES AW17 PRESS DAY REVIVING THE BRITISH 1970S ROCK-ARISTOCRACY

The legendary bespoke tailoring brand Gieves & Hawkes recently hosted its AW17 Press Day at STUDIO Club in Hong Kong. The House proudly unveiled the latest collection in a Rock ‘n’ Roll themed party and demonstrated the highest levels of British tailored craftsmanship and design, paying homage to the incredible era for British menswear in the 1970s.
Wooden paneling and a classic long bar at the authentic venue effortlessly reflected the decadent style of 1970s classic British luxury rock-aristocracy as shown in the collection. Major elements such as an evolved house cut, refined 70s colors, sophisticated use of texture and vintage patterns from the collection were well presented on mannequins shining under spotlights. A classic 7” vinyl featuring these key elements as track names was given at the event with guests’ name scribed by calligrapher on-site, giving a comprehensive 1970s feel to the party.
Models in key looks from the collection performed on the centre stage and engaged with guests at the party, which perfectly replicated the scene when legendary performers, aristocrats and artists alike frequented Savile Row and enjoyed close personal relationships with their tailors.
