Kent & Curwen launches new concept store at Pacific Place in Hong Kong

6th September 2017, British heritage brand Kent & Curwen celebrated the launch of their new concept menswear store in Pacific Place, Hong Kong with a press conference at which special guest included Mr Julian Cheung Chilam.
The brand, which since 2016 has been under the watchful eye of creative director Daniel Kearns and business partner David Beckham has undergone an international re-brand aimed at engaging a younger more fashionable customer, whilst still retaining the existing values that appeal to Kent & Curwen’s already loyal clientele. Kearns has taken the helm of the design of the collections, stores and packaging, working alongside Beckham who, with his innate sense of style, has helped guide the heritage brand through the evolution. The new concept Kent & Curwen store at Pacific Place is the first in a number of the planned renovations taking place this year to showcase the efforts of Kearns and Beckham’s working relationship. In the autumn, Kent & Curwen will also open a new store in London on Floral Street in Covent Garden, again adopting the new concept.
“Pacific Place is one of the most prestigious shopping destinations in Hong Kong” said Daniel Kearns, “It is extremely exciting to open our first new concept store in this exceptional mall”.
The new store concept focuses on a central cube, constructed in aged metal and hand blown green glass, reminiscent of a decorative Victorian pub or orangery. Painted brick walls are a nod to the streets of London, the city to which Kent & Curwen owes so much of its aesthetic. Vintage school gym apparatus influences hanging and storage solutions, referencing the brand’s heritage in supplying sporting attire to British schools such as Eton and Harrow. University-style panelling is reinterpreted into ceiling detail inspired by the brands long association with the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
